An update and some ranting
Mon Jul 30, 2007 at 04:35PM
First off, the contest went really well this weekend in light of the crummy waves at the St. Augustine pier. I managed a fifth place in the final. A few hours later we headed to Vilano which leads me into my rant. First off when we get there, the waves are great, waist to rib, barrelling and maybe 3 guys in the water. That would change when within an hour there were no less than 60 guys on in the water, 20 on one peak. To make conditions more frustrating, the rednecks were out in full force managing to stand right in front of the surfers in the line up making it almost impossible not to hit them. Then they get mad and start crap with us. I know thinking is well beyond the mental capacity of most of these people (beacause of inbreeding and what not) But I find it rediculous that people can't get the clue to move out of the way when there are about 20 surfers coming at them every other wave. Luckily school starts soon and most of these kids, in and out of the water, will be gone. But until then i'll be looking forward to hurricane swells and then wetsuits and nor-easters.
Update of sorts

Well so far this year is going pretty good, being my first year doing contests. I am on track with my goal of qualifying for ESA regionals despite my less than stellar surfing performances at the contests i have still managed being in a final both contests I entered with a 4th at the first and 6th at the second. I missed the latest event due to some family issues but I am looking forward to the 4th contest next weekend.
