We did it! El Cazador placed in our first team tournament. Thanks for all of your support! We took 3rd place out of 42 boats with 3 sailfish. We kicked butt in 1st place the first day with two sails and reeled in the 3rd sailfish in the afternoon of the last day. Second place caught their 3rd sailfish just 45 minutes before ours, so they placed ahead of us. First place went to the amazing Rum Runner. Intimidated by our little panga, they went out deeper and tagged 6 sails the second day to beat us all. The little panga team from Astillero, inlcuding El Cazador, Va Pue & Marlindo, released 7 sailfish all together to show those big boats how we roll under pressure! We all threw back a ton of Dorado, but couldn't beat the winning bull at 46.5 lbs. Check out those photos and the winning wahoo as well. The weather was perfect and we had a blast at the evening festivties. Thanks to Lance, an editor & photographer from Marlin Magazine hung out with us for the trip, so keep an eye out for Nicaragua in the next issue. Thanks to all of you for sharing the stoke with us! See attached photos on our home page and video coming soon. Oh yeah, and we missed some pretty good waves while we were gone gettin' it done! (scroll down for more tournament photos)

Epic report today, because El Cazador is first in the fishing tournament in San Juan Del Sur. Action packed early morning with a ton of small dorado, but caught, tagged and released two big sailfish to place us ahead of all the other big boats. I am scared to download video or photos off the camera until after we check them into the tournament tonight, so stand by for update and video after the final day tomorrow, Saturday. Wish us luck! ....Kel

!!!Another sailfish .... First on the El Cazador!!! The winds were onshore yesterday afternoon so I took Mike and John for a little afternoon fishing.  It started out pretty slow, catching a few doodoos and then a nice-sized sailfish came into the spread, trailling the long line. After 3 whacks at it, I dropped the drag to free spool and he finally inhaled it. After a few secs, I pressed the drag to the button and with 3 turns of the crank the hook was set ... the fight was on.  Mike had the sailfish, a 100-lber, boat-side in about 30 min with a little coaching from me and some good driving from Kelly. We revived it in about 30 minutes and cracked a fresh cold beer as it swam away into the sunset. This is what dreams are made of... Mike caught his first fish ever, a 10 lb dorado, the day before with Tony. Props to Mike and Los Cazadores at The Surf Sanctuary. Ready to rock it at the tournament in San Juan Del Sur the 25th and 26th!

Oh yeah ... and the waves are chest to head-high today.  See ya. Wayne

this week had Haywood back st the-surf-sanc and he brought his friend Durk, Walker and  Walkers daughter, English ,yes that is right her name is English.  we surfed a ton and caught lots of dorados and drank lots of tonas.   the last day of there trip was monday so we did a 11 hour boat day that included surfing, lunch at a nice restaurant in gigante and lots of fishing.  fishing was a little slow so Haywood and Walter schooled me on some Wrightsville Beach, NC  hilllbilllllly fishing skills that helped put some fish in the box for dinner, good job boys.

see ya next year..

tony brought me lots new tackle back from the states to help us kick ass in the upcoming tourny in SJDS.   anyone coming to nicaragua in the next few weeks from the jacksonville fl area that can bring me the rest of my tackle, there is a free boat trip in the deal
