My dad built all of the Cigarette boats from 1980 to 2001. With the smell of resin ingrained in my head from an early age surfboards seemed a natural progression. I took on a "sweep the floor bitch" type thing with who I believe is one of the best shapers in Florida, Mike Whisnant. Once Clark foam shut down any job I had with Mike was put on hold and I began to look at my options. At the time my dad was building a 100% composite/epoxy boat called "The Dragon"(www.dragonpowerboats.com) with a man named Doug Wright in Melbourne. Doug had been one of the epoxy pioneers in the 80's along with Greg Loehr. Once I had been educated there was no going back to the inferior, toxic polyester resin. One day while glassing a board at Whiz's, in walks Drew Bagget of Inspired trying to sling a parabolic blank he built. Drew saw my epoxy work and offered me a full-time laminating job. I spent a year at Inspired, perfecting my epoxy lamination over hundreds of polyurathane, multi-density EPS, and full on composite firewire type boards. I've shaped 70 boards, glassed and finished almost 400. Right now I'm pursuing my own label (Knightmare) of epoxy surfboards. ANY blank option is available(polyurathane/multi density EPS/whatever you want) with the finest Epoxy lams. Contact me with any questions regarding orders or epoxy and I would be happy to help/shatter epoxy myths that still lurk out there. I can also fix ANYTHING (Epoxy or Poly) and have done repairs for Whisnant Surfboards and Sunrise. In my "other life" I play guitar in the band Deathface out of Jax Beach. KB
